I enjoy living in the Sonoran desert of southern Airizona because of it's endless opportunities for great pictures. For the last 35 years I've been hooked on photography. I purcahsed my first SLR in 1975, a Nikkormat FTN 35mm which I still keep on a shelf. I used a Nikkor 1.4 50mm lens and a lot of Kodachrome. In the 70's I traveled a lot in Latin America with my Nikkormat, once for a year straight. I had to mail my exposed film home and wait to see my results a year later. I was so happy when digital came along...the film was such a drag. Many of my photos are scanned from slides taken decades ago.

I like to shoot landscapes, seascapes, sunsets, people and most anything that catches my eye....it's like taking snapshots of the big picture. In 1979 I had my first photos published in a guide book on South America which I was also writing for. In 1980-81 I was on assignment in Sub-Saharan Africa updating the guidebook "Back Packer's Africa" by Bradt Publications which featured my photos on both covers. Since than I've had many images published in several magazines, including "Outside" and "Time".

Every picture tells a story and every time I look through someones photostream it's like reading a book about that individual. I learn something from flicker every week. Its fun to see places I've photographed having been shot by another photographer in a whole different perspective than my approach.
