Born Southsea, Hants, 1953. Educated at Portsmouth Technical High School, then worked in various retail outlets in Portsmouth, Fareham, Waterlooville and Southsea until 1995 when illness brought about early retirement. Met my wife Carol in 1989 whilst working for John Lewis and we have been very happily married since 1992.
I've had an interest in buses from an early age - particularly those of Provincial (Gosport &; Fareham), probably borne out of visiting my Grandparents who lived in Gosport during the 1950-1980s. The interest waned during the mid 1970s with the withdrawal of all the interesting stock, but was revived during the late 1980s when People's Provincial started operating in Portsmouth. Joined the Provincial Society in 2003, and I contribute regularly to their magazine and Enthusiasts website (www.regent8.co.uk), also helped to compile a comprehensive fleet list of People's Provincial which was published August 1, 2010.
My other great passion is for the music of pianists Abdullah Ibrahim (formerly Dollar Brand) and Stan Tracey. I have amassed a huge collection of both these artists since 1972 and, one day, I hope to publish a discography of Stan (which currently runs for in excess of 300 pages, and includes not only his extensive commercial output but also hundreds of radio & tv broadcasts, film soundtracks and 'private' recordings).
I hope you enjoy my selection of 'Provvypix'. I have never been either a good or prolific photographer, and the majority of my 2000 or so Provincial-related photos have been sourced either at rallies, mail order dealers/collectors, ebay and other internet sites. Please respect the conditions of this site and don't pass off any of the photos as your own, or for commercial use without asking first. Thanks.
