This site is where I'll be posting pictures related to the North Augusta Optimist Club. Most of these show up in our newsletter or other emails, but this will serve, hopefully as an archive of srts.
The North Augusta Optimist Club is an all-volunteer civic organization. We are one of more than 3,400 Optimist Clubs throughout the world but our focus is on the North Augusta area, having served our community for more than 39 years. Each year our Club sponsors programs and activities that benefit more than 1000 North Augusta young people!
Our Club sponsors academic and sports activities designed to give community youth a better chance to succeed in today's world. Whether it is a scholarship to help students attend college, sponsoring numerous athletic teams, hosting the annual Youth Appreciation Day and Teacher Appreciation Day, conducting the areas largest free Easter Egg Hunt, providing Science Fair Judges to Middle Schools or distributing books to preschoolers to help them get a head start on literacy.
Although we have many projects and do a lot of community service work, we are not "all work and no play". Our dinner meetings and other Social functions are an important part of our organization and we encourage participation by all members. Members take turns arranging for a guest speaker at each meeting, and our quarterly dues of $40 cover the meal costs. Social gatherings include the Summer Pool Party and the Formal Christmas Dinner.
Our sole fundraiser is the Christmas Tree Sale, which is a real community event. Most of our members participate and many of our customers are friends from the community who come back every year to get a nice fresh tree and help out the club.
The North Augusta Optimist Club is an Equal Opportunity Civic Organization. Our club is among the most diverse in the South Carolina District.
