Doc’s Bots

Artwork by Trina Schmidt

Art has always been a passion for me. I come from a long line of painters and sculptors, but being rebellious, I became a doctor in the criminal justice field instead. However, the call of creativity became too strong to avoid once I discovered art could be created with power tools. Thus, Doc’s Bots was born.

I create found object/assemblage art which is all play and fun for me. The added benefit is that it saves items from ending up in landfills. Many of the parts are decidedly odd and regularly overlooked. Sometimes it takes months to finish a piece, waiting on just the right object to appear. Other times it comes together after only one trip to a thrift store, flea market or reuse center. Being the Sci-Fi nerd that I am, creating Rebots (robots with recycled parts) was an easy choice in artwork.

Each piece is one of a kind and while not functional, provides the viewer endless imaginative possibilities.
