Steven is a New York native who started taking photographs with a 2¼ square film camera at age thirteen. He was the high school sports photographer in his senior year. While a graduate student in Zoology at the University of Maryland, he also taught classes in photography composition and darkroom technique. During that period, he studied art photography techniques in the evenings at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC. Following his retirement from a career in marketing, sales and implementation in 2012, he became serious about digital photography and post-processing. In 2015 and 2016 he taught the “Outdoor Photography at its Best” a one-week photography workshop with Bob Spalding as part of the Road Scholar program coordinated by Clemson University. He is the Wildlife Action Upstate Chapter Staff Photographer and the Upstate Photo Meetup Group Cohost as well as teaches monthly photography workshops at the Mauldin Senior Center and the Mauldin Library. He lives with his wife, Betty, in Mauldin.
