I do qualitative market research for my livelihood but often, my latest obsession consumes my time !

Am a rank amateur photographer, my interest in photography revived after a long time.....used to be a keen snapster in the pre-digicam days as a youngster. I remember helping my father process B&W photos at home in the make-shift darkroom corner of our kitchen when color processing was not yet done in India. Also making slides of our holidays and watching them projected on the drawing room wall. However, then I was too young to learn anything except a love for clicking pictures.

Love the immense freedom and ease of experimenting & learning that digicams offer... the immediate gratification is great ! (For the longest time, I hadn't acquired a DSLR but used a good compact camera.)

My day job as a qualitative researcher involves observing, profiling, capturing & reporting small moments in day to day life. I carry that perspective to photography too. I am more of a visual ethnographer.....like to capture what I see around me, be it food, people, places, streets, emotions !

Other interests : learning the Japanese language (have been doing it for the last few years...its always a learning process with miles ahead to go! Its such a beautiful but frustrating language to learn), dabbling a bit in Indian folk art, reading (a lot...eclectic !), spending lots of time with family.......

Shubhangi has a nack to get picture of Mumbai that look like they were taken in some scenic village... the first time I saw her Play of Light set I just couldn't believe that Mumbai could be so scenic and beautiful. I also get a major inferiority complex because she shoots with a A710 and I cannot get to her level with my 30D!

One of the best things I like about Subhangi's pics is the approriate titles she chooses. Its hiarious and apt for the pic. Usually a pic can be made more lively by adding a good write-up and a good catchy title. Once she has mastered Japanese, I hope her titles wont be in Japanese !
