GambiaRising provides opportunities to impoverished Gambians to better themselves through their own work - primarily through scholarships and financial assistance to Gambian students who otherwise would not be able to stay in school. Photos prior to 2010 were the top submissions in a photo contest held by and among Peace Corps volunteers working in The Gambia and provide a visual snapshot of that wonderful country and its people.
