A Physical Therapist by profession, I have always had a strong interest in science and nature dating from my early teenage years when I wanted to be the next Jacques Cousteau. Having spent much of my later teenage years and early adulthood in film photography I rediscovered my passion for nature and wildlife photography several years ago as DSLR’s became more affordable and of a quality approaching that of film.

I saw yet another comment from Mark on my stream this evening ( does this guy ever sleep) !!!!!!!!……. I am away for about 30 days as I’m taking a break, and yet, for some reason, I just thought I would have a look at his pictures as I have some time now,as I truly wanted spend some time going through his stream closely…( as he has been on my mind ).. and went I over and looked at that incredible Eagle shot in a mirrored image style in water….it was sooo good……which invariably took my breath away and I realized he had achieved greatness in my mind. Further; I have been noticing in the last little while at what incredible work this guy comes up with . His Osprey shot in the nest which is posted directly after the Bald Eagle shot that I just mentioned is further living proof of the consistency within this artist. He is consistent and he is a true “real” gentleman and a fine soul .His talent is obvious as his pictures are dead on examples of how to take a picture…….. he doesn’t seem to have an ego and he has his head on straight and his lens on straight too …this guy KNOWS how to take a picture and understands light and obviously also knows his camera…..He is evolving and I see a difference in his photographic prowess from even just a couple on months ago. Mark is a friend who compliments on a consistent basis, and is always trying to let me know that not only is he a friend…… but is truly interested in my work as he is in others. So unselfish and talented, and has as ton of integrity to go with all the merits he owns. No wonder why I’m so lucky to have him as one of my 100 friends who is a fixture on my photo-stream on flickr Island here. A worthy friend. a talented example of class, with the correct attitude that allows him to excel at photography, with the appreciation and respect of so many. Mark, I may not always have a lot of banter with you, but I so appreciate your presense and your friendship…….. you are an incredible photographer, and a phenomenal comrade, and I love your work. and I appreciate what you bring to the photographic table, which makes me realize how lucky I have been to have made your acquaintance ….I hope we shoot together one day ………..Howard

Mark has become one of Flickr's finest wildlife photographers. His bird shots, especially the in-flight ones, are some of the best you will find on Flickr. He shoots with a Nikon D300 camera and most of his wildlife shots are shot with a Sigma 150-500mm lens ($1000 retail). In my opinion there's no way to tell he isn't using a $5000-$10,000 lens. His work is very inspiring to anybody that has an interest in wildlife and bird photography. Mark shows what can be done with equipment that most of us can afford; so visit Mark's photostream and enjoy his wonderful work and be inspired to go out there with the equipment you have and keep on shooting. Keep up the good work, Mark! jc-pics
