Automotive engineer, I have been expatriated for 6 years in Tokyo but returned to France end of 2010. My photographic activity has been very limited in 2011 but I hope to start again in 2012.

Japan is the current main subject of my photostream. You will find a lot of pictures from Tokyo as well as several sets from other parts of Japan where we have traveled.

Japan being close to Oceania, we have been lucky to visit New-Zealand and Australia, two countries from which we came back with wonderful souvenirs and pictures (well, for this, you will be my judge !).

We did not visit much Asia and you will find only a few sets dedicated to Hong-Kong and Singapore. I came back very impressed from Hong-Kong and hope to return there to take more pictures: this is an incredible metropolis.

I would describe my style as "reportage" oriented : I try to picture what you will see or experience if you go to the same place. I use a tripod only when I don't have another choice (night time obviously) and I don't take much long exposure by day time (besides a few recent experiments in Tokyo)... I like the freedom to shoot hand-held even though long exposure can bring great effects.

I do some post-treatment on my pictures, usually levels and colors adjustments, but nothing too complex or long; sometimes I will 'simulate' degraded gray filter (I don't use one when I take pictures) to keep details in the sky, but this is very rare. No HDR shot on my stream - I usually don't like the result and I think this is a too complex process.

Japan is a beautiful country and I've been lucky enough to have lived there for a few years. Laurent's rendition of this country is just as how I've experienced it - filled with culture and tradition, natural beauty and splendour. It is as though I'm living in Japan once again through Laurent's eyes. He has definitely captured its soul through everyday urban scenes including people and their traditions, food, transportation and architecture. The beauty of his images lie in its downright simplicity, although he never fails to fill it with color and life. Most importantly, he always "takes you there", and I think that's the essence of a true photographer.
