My name is Don Webber and I am looking for converts! I have been taking pictures since I was about nine years old. Mom had a lot of patience with her keen little photographer in Albany, Oregon, so I guess that gives me about 53 years of experience, including a stint as the high school annual staff photographer aptly nicknamed Flash. I have spent quantities of time in southern California and southern Nevada. Ten years in Australia introduced me to great subjects -- whether it is a flower, bird, roo, sunset, or a landscape – where the beautiful photo opportunities are an everyday event. Currently I am living in Amarillo, Texas, which causes me to be a bit more creative with the subjects that I find! I am self taught, with some instruction from a Brooks Institute graduate and good friend, Rob Maher. I was not able to immerse myself in photography until the last few years. Now with my Canon 350D and a bit more time, I am able to spend an hour taking shots of just one or two subjects. It allows me to capture what I see in the subject. I love macro photography (taking pictures on a highly magnified level), and spend most of my time working in that mode. Since I looked through my first microscope, I have wanted to be able to show others what I see. Now I can do that. I am able to move into a world that most do not take the time to see. When you look at one of my photos you are beholding a world, which for that moment in time, grabs your attention and demands to be seen. That world exists if only you have the time to see. My son tells me that he looks at flowers in a very different way now, there is more to be appreciated than there used to be. So there’s one convert.
