Charles is a friend to sometimes-neglected wonders of nature: pigs, hedgehogs, baby mermaids, tiny fairies that hide in the woodland. His work has an innocence and a joy to it so that even though his sculpts are diverse it is easy to recognize them as only coming from him, and all of his creatures are friendly and soft and maybe (some, at least, well, definitely not William Winterberry!) a little shy. His Alice Cherry Blossom BJDs got me through a rough patch in my life; when my health was poor they were a constant source of inspiration and sunshine. I was very happy to be able to tell Charles this when I met him on another website, and even more thrilled that he responded back so kindly. Most of the time I don't think that much about the artists behind the dolls I cherish, but I'm glad to with Charles - it just makes sense that someone so nice would produce creatures so wonderful.
