Hello. Welcome to Grizzly Mountain Soaps. We can be found at grizzlymountainsoaps.etsy.com Our unique, cold process, specialty soap is made from buffalo tallow (rendered fat). All of our soap is handmade here on the Flathead Indian Reservation in western Montana. No animals are harmed for the making of our soap. The tallow that we use in our soap is reclaimed. It is normally thrown away and never used. As was the tradition of the Native Americans, we believe that nothing should be wasted. And so, inspired by this tradition, we purchase the tallow and give it useful new life in our soaps. We feel that this our way of honoring this sacred animal.

Most commercial soaps are made from pork and beef tallow from commercially grown animals. The advantage of buffalo tallow is that there are no growth hormones or other harmful things involved. Buffalo tallow makes a luxurious, softening soap that lasts an amazingly long time. It far outlasts commercial soaps. Our soaps are beautifully hand wrapped in fabric (never plastic) that allows you to smell the soap without even unwrapping it. And they smell fantastic. One decorative bar placed in a bathroom will scent the whole room. And buffalo soap is amazing on the skin. It has been very helpful to problem and sensitive skin. This soap feels silky and rinses clean, nourishing your skin and leaving it feeling wonderful. Our soap is made from scratch, never from a base with uneeded chemicals. We make it the old fashioned way, just like the pioneers and Native Americans of old did it.
