I live in Oxford, UK and run my own garden design studio. I am rediscovering the fun of photography - something I used to be keen on but which vanished somewhere in the last 20 years or so. I still post too many images on my flickr page, but as time goes on I'm sure my editorial skills wil become more rigorous.
My interests? Buildings, and the details that can be found in them; plants and their structures; places, and their atmosphere and moods. It probably says something about me that I have very few images of people, but let's not examine that too closely! I keep an eye open for the chance compositions that the geometry of the built, and more rarely the natural environment, throws up.
I hope that you like my photographs - thank you in advance for any constructive comments you care to post!
If you wish to use images from my photostream please contact me through my design website. My blog at www.paulridleydesign-paul.blogspot.com/ has information and news of my latest projects, whilst my blog at www.paradaeza.blogspot.com has more personal content, exploring the influences on my design and photography as well as being a scrapbook of the things I like. Paul Ridley’s magnificent photography is a travel in aesthetic delight… particularly I love his “Landscapes of the Mind” series which reveal a new dimension to me. His marvellous images of plant-life are unique too and a great delight – he is an awesome photographer!
Paul Ridley's images display finesse of composition, with special sensitivity for form, color and texture. The most subtle details do not escape his eye. He has an appreciation for the beauty of nature and a feel for the poetics of space which expresses itself in the work.
looking through paul's photostream is like going on a beautiful vacation. a real explorer, he shares his passion for the beauty he visits through his photography. it's always a treat to see what he'll post next...
