I live in the Netherlands. I have been shooting analogue for 28 years as hobby. Mostly historic car races and GT races on the European race tracks. Lately I like shooting 6x6 medium format landscapes, and portraits of friends. I own and use Nikon F5, Rolleiflex 6008i, Rolleiflex 2.8F, Leica M3 DS.
I love playing with my film cameras and I love the lenses. I love the mind process from idea to the result of an image. I love how film captures the light and most always transforms it into something even better than I saw through the viewfinder. Nice thing of shooting analogue with both my Rolleiflex 2.8F or Leica M3 is that these cameras are a conversation starter. Remarkable how people connect to these classics. Everyone has a story of similar cameras owned by their father or grandfather. Then the melancholy kicks in about how great these cameras were, and how they would love to shoot analogue too. But then the forced logic of digital takes over on how more convenient a phone image is taken, bla bla bla. Then I ask, if they share, print, or project any of these images? Then always a shameful NO is replied. Hmm, so sad.
What is great to witness, is the reaction when my portrayed friends see their prints for the first time. Priceless.
Gladly Flickr is an image sharing community!
