Ivana Russo, cosentina, laureanda al DAMS, con una tesi sul rapporto tra cinema e pittura , in particolare su Julian Shnabel, da anni si dedica professionalmente in Italia e in Europa alla produzione e documentazione fotografica , alla produzione video e all’organizzazione di eventi culturali, collaborando con Enti pubblici,istituti universitari, la Rai,, societa’ di produzioni televisive e video, centri d’arte e cultura, riviste on line. Con una formazione e una presenza anche nel campo del teatro , ha al suo attivo numerose personali e collettive di fotografia , video e video installazioni sul territorio nazionale e internazionale. Ha vinto premi per concorsi nazionali nelle arti visive e numerosi suoi video sono stati selezionati in importanti festival nazionali e internazionali. I suoi lavori più, recenti sono una video-conversazione, sull’allestimento la Storia e il Presente dell’ artista Jannis Kounellis, un video- documentario con installazione fotografica, in un quartiere di Cosenza “Santa Lucia : L’anima e la carne” .

Si interessa anche di documentazione fotografica nell’ambito del reportage di viaggio come in Africa o Parigi.., e in quello sociale e musicale . Nell’ ambito Musicale ha avuto collaborazioni con diversi artisti , come Canio Loguercio, Sud Sound System, Enza Pagliara , Taragnawa, con questi ultimi tre ha realizzato il video Note Nere, Viaggio a sud della musica, presentato in diversi festival e recentemente arrivato tra i dodici finalisti nel Premio Internazionale del Reportage e del Documentario del Mediterraneo RAI.

Ivana Russo, Cosenza native, currently studying at DAMS (University, Department of Art, Music and Spectacle), with a thesis on the relationship between cinema and painting, looking particularly at the works of Julian Shnabel. For years she has dedicated herself professionally to photographic documentation and production in Italy and in Europe, to video production and the organization of cultural events, collaborating with Public Entities, University Institutes, Rai (an Italian tv channel), Production Society, Culture and Art Centers, and online magazines. With a background in theater to support her, she has created many works of art, working individually and with other artists both nationally and internationally. She has won national recognition in the form of prizes, and many of her videos have been selected for world-wide showings. Her most recent work consists of a video conversation, on the preparation of the exhibit of Jannis Kounellis, “History and the Present,” as well as, “Santa Lucia: The Soul and the Flesh,” a documentary video with photographic installation concentrating on a specific neighborhood in Old Cosenza.

Her interests extend also to travel photography and the documentation of locations, including Paris, and parts of Africa, in which she examines social and musical perspectives. She has worked with various artists in the musical arena, including, Canio Loguercio, Sud Sound System, Enza Pagliara, and Taragnawa. With the last three she worked on a video called “Note Nere: Journey to the South of Music,” shown at various festivals and recently nominated as finalist for the “International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage,” sponsored by Rai.
