I work primarily as a sculptor, primarily in clay, and primarily with the human figure.

My artistic practice reflects a lifelong fascination with public sculpture, and particularly its reinterpretation by the public – sometimes with the connivance of the artist.

I make a lot of devils, also a lifelong fascination. Devils are effective precisely because they are concise, not solemn, and not actually bad. Rather, devils are perceptive – they get the good lines, and they deliver them. Like them, I also try to avoid solemnity in favour of subversive humour.

Much of my work is political, broadly speaking, and in the tradition of political and other cartooning.

In the last two years I have been exploring the making of 3D-printed copies of some of my sculptures, given the possibilities of this this technology for multiplying and transfiguring solid objects.

A few of these pieces are for sale, including bronzes and images. Some are sold. Please contact me for further information.
