80% friend, 80% mentor (go ahead and do the math), Lila is one of my very first contacts. For that reason, it is fitting that the first testimonial that I've ever written on flickr is for her. She inspires us all with her magnificent images from nature and the Pennsylvania country-side where she lives. Her glimpses into the austere and mysterious world of the Amish are special treats with which she intermittently gifts us. Though her photography alone speaks volumes, she has the added gift of finding literary and popular quotes and passages to enlighten and uplift us. Besides the inspiration that I get from her daily posts, she has a genuine interest in the photography and lives of her contacts. I have grown tremendously as an artist having Lila as a friend, audience, cheerleader, and active participant in my work. What would flickr be without her?

It’s hard to define Lila’s photographs as she shoots a variety of subjects and every picture is different, but I think the word that best describes Lila’s photography is “soulful”. All of her pictures are moving, beautiful, poetic. She composes her images really well and she has a gift of complementing her photos with inspiring, appropriate quotes. Lila is also a wonderful contact to have – very supportive and kind. Her comments are never empty. I love the fact that she actually looks at your work and makes pertinent, sensitive observations. It’s always a pleasure to visit her photostream and I’m always delighted when she visits mine. It’s an honor to have her as a friend on Flickr. She is generous and warm in her email replies to questions from those of us who are less informed or proficient. A natural teacher, she imparts encouragement that bolsters my self-confidence. I feel fortunate to "know" her. Lila Rose's photostream, especially her series featuring the Amish and Mennonite communities, is simply spellbinding! I don't know how she manages it. Seems she is in the right place at the right time and everything falls into place frequently culminating in something downright spectacular. Her photos feed my soul.
