Born in 1957, the son of a railwayman (which explains much) and a fully paid-up member of the beard & glasses brigade, I started with science fiction (NOT 'sci-fi', please!) and have ranged far and wide thereafter. As something of a collector of anorakisms, I am liable to be found on a train or a military airbase (with permission, of course) anywhere from the North Cape to the Bosphorous - but always with style. A one-time career bureaucrat and sometimes viewed by my Management as a member of the 'awkward squad' (though frankly, they have led sheltered lives), I also had some form for helping to raise the rabble at UK Civil Service trade union events.

 

All that changed in 2010 when I left for pastures new - firstly, to make a career as a journalist and photographer then, when that didn't work out for me, as a software tester for various companies and organisations. Now, retirement offers me the chance to catch up on some of my photographic backlog...
