I would most definitely say my artistic and photograph strength (s) is my way of envisioning what I want to do. I love using point of views to make something ordinary look interesting. When I have assignment I like to get my point across or handle the problem with point of view. The way a photograph is taken can drastically change the mood of a photo. Many of my photographs such as pictures taken at the park, or in New York City are simply appealing because they are taken from the side, top, or bottom view. When you look at my contact sheets the most common thing is one shot but taken at several angles. One Artist I am very interested in is Bruce Davidson. I am a fan of how he captures the moment. He simply travels and takes photos of, in his point of view, interesting subjects. When I went to New York City I tried to do the same; I took photos of the people in their own environment, doing exactly what they want. Bruce takes photos of people when they do not know they are being shot. When I do not know exactly what I want to shot, I simply go out with my roll of film and look for a scene I find interesting, I then build off of that, changing the point of views I use when photographing. Bruce Davidson’s work is very blunt but can also be subtle and discreet, depending on his point of view. For the rest of the year I want to focus on combining my concentration with my photo assignments, focusing on point of view, and hopefully like Bruce I can capture the subtleness of a moment and make it interesting. I plan to aim for more point of views on certain subjects. If I can get one a shot of something ordinary and make it extraordinary by simply changing up the view, I will be greatly satisfied with myself. All of my photos deal with subject matter, and point of view. However, “Girl in ec” deals with both my art concentration (apples/ temptation) and point of view, my photo works. The photo is taken on a stonewall. Juliane is lying down, as if she was dead, with an apple in her hand. The photo is taken from a side angle, I think the view makes the subject more interesting; it makes you look at the photo more closely to understand what is happening, and it gives the viewer an opportunity to look closely at the details. Another thematic work is my drawing “snake homework” the charcoal drawing is a play on the bible story of eve and the apple tree. This is one have the most well known, and greatest story of temptation. The drawing is a brief description of a deeper story. The snake and apple are a symbol of temptation.
