The mechanic (Marvin Hooley)
Drag to set position!
Oh gee where to start.. I'm a pretty simple man who likes to keep it that way. I'm kind of redescovering an old passion and I would like to become a better photographer. So any advice/pointers would be welcomed.
After looking around I am just amazed at the talent out there, I should realy take a class or two. I guess I like to do things the hard way... Please be kind... but honest.
(oct 8th 08 update) Ok, Silence is a pretty good critic too... I finaly got paid in a round about way to take pictures today and I feel pretty good about that. I realy am a mechanic and have been for quite some time. But seeing the world through a lens has always been someting that I really would rather make a living at.
Feb 13 09 update: Still doing things the hard way.
Recovering from my surgery is kind of a good thing. the boss lets me do a little more of the photography "thing", buying a new flash and teaching myself (reading the book) how to use it has transfered well to the "documentation" photos that I need/want to do. It's just not the same as the art that I see here. Altho I find myself laying out things in an artistic way. ( I cracks me up,) but don't think the boss "gets it".
Thanks for the inspiration.
Feb 18th 2011 Update: Hmmm... it's been a while hu?
Well I passed 27,000 images with more poor old Rebel XT just a while back. And it is begining to get worn smooth in some spots, but still going strong.
Still saving my pennys for a good used Canon EOS 5D
I've begun to calm down a bit I think. I don't take 20 pictures of EVERYTHING anymore but I still take a lot. Just this last year I would say it has become second nature for me to change settings on my camera almost without looking. (It's all that night photography I think)
This year I hope to register an assumed business name and start trying to sell a few of my pics. It would be nice to cover at least a little of my expenses...
