I don't have a "proper" camera at the moment, so just using a smartphone; this is my current and a very plausible excuse for my photos not reaching a better standard... another excuse is that I am not especially concerned about the type of camera or photographic equipment I use, I am more interested in the subject. If anyone can suggest a good but (very) simple to operate camera, of very reasonable cost, as my means are correspondingly modest...I would much appreciate the advice! xx
As you are reading this, and possibly have had a look at some of my photos, you may already have diagnosed my condition---as OCD. Obsessional Cat Disorder.
A few sayings I like...
I had been told that the training procedure with cats was difficult.
It's not. Mine had me trained in two days.
Bill Dana
n order to keep a true perspective of one's importance,
everyone should have a dog that will worship him
and a cat that will ignore him.
~Dereke Bruce
One cat just leads to another...
Every home needs a dog to adore it, and a cat to ignore it... :-/
A dog comes when its called, but a cat takes a message and gets back to you... if you are lucky.
A dog has a master, but a cat has servants...!
A cat is a lion in a jungle of small bushes (an Indian proverb).
There is no need for a piece of sculpture in a home that has a cat." (Wesley Bates).
God made the cat so man could pet the tiger.
From various authors.
A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not. - Ernest Hemingway
The Cat’s Prayer. (well, part of it..)
Giv us dis day our dalee cheezburger.
And furgiv us for makin yu a cookie, but eateding it.
And we furgiv kittehs who be steelin our bukkits.
An do not let us leed into teh showa, but deliver us from teh wawter.
Ceiling Cat pwns all. He pwns teh ceiling and teh floor and walls too.
Forevur and evuhr. Amen.
Quotes I appreciate:
"I wish more people felt that photography was an adventure the same as life itself and felt that their individual feelings were worth expressing. To me, that makes photography more exciting."
Harry Callahan. . . . . . . . . .
"To be a photographer, one must photograph. No amount of book learning, no checklist of seminars attended, can substitute for the simple act of making pictures. Experience is the best teacher of all. And for that, there are no guarantees that one will become an artist. Only the journey matters.."
Harry Callahan
A Kiwi who flew across the world. Settled for a number of years in the UK, (rather not say how many lol, it shocks even me), first in London, where my three children grew up; then in Rochdale, Lancashire, where my second husband comes from, and now in Fethiye, Turkey, with hubby and our little "manna from Heaven "feral cat, Hannibal. He literally fell from the sky, on to our lawn, well, a few inches anyway, from his mother's jaws we think... so we scooped the tiny kitten up out of the reach of neighbour's big dog. Fate!? Well, a great big stroke of luck for Hann, anyway! (as we keep reminding him..) We hope to see rather more of our families here in sunny Turkey with a pool lol, than ever we did back in chilly Britain! The latest is that due mainly to hubby's health problems, we find ourselves back in England for the foreseeable future. The draw of Turkey is strong though, so we will be taking as many holidays in Turkey as we can afford :-)
Its always a privilege when a member makes me a contact, so I always return the favour, and it will be a pleasure to check out your photos whenever I can. This will not be as often as I should, or want to, as I am kept pretty busy doing Admin and Moderating duties for several groups on Flickr, so please accept my apologies!
To my dear contacts:- I owe you all an apology, as I know I am not viewing your photos lately as I should, and as they deserve; the reason is I am extremely busy now, with selling our house, and adminning for more than one group. You deserve better, so I wouldn't blame you at all if you decide to remove me from your list of contacts. All I can do is apologise, and try to view and comment on your photos as often as I can, which I know will not be enough. The main group I admin for is Siamese Cats and their Feline Brothers, so if you wish to post your photos there, I will be able to see them, and comment, as I do on a daily basis.
Thank you all for putting up with me not doing you the justice that you all deserve, my dear friends! I hope you understand. Lots of love to you all!
A favourite saying...
There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.
Sir Francis Bacon.
So now I know I'm beautiful! :-)
And another that made me smile..
How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then rest afterward”
~Spanish proverb
