In June 2007 my “focus” on Flickr aimed primarily at *ABW* Gallery as an admin devoted to presenting an exceptional collection of Nature photography to reaffirm that humankind inhabits a world of immeasurable beauty.

Joined the staff at BORN to be WILD in January 2013.

Joined the staff at Absolute Quality Gallery in February 2014.

Pursued photography 25 years as an avocation with a few small Seattle exhibits in the 1980s and video projects late-90s, one of which won a regional USA-Canada award.

No photostream for 3 reasons: unprepared for digital upload, haven't used a camera for years, and hesitant to show old work (Flickr seems so now-oriented).

Logged over 450,000 hours on Flickr (best guess) since May 2006 and have been honored by 9 photographers dedicating images to coyrooster. I'm thrilled to find phenomenal work others are doing with film, pixels & processing. The diversity here is staggering & exciting, worlds within worlds.

Old stories -- BA in English (Cornell University) MA in Journalism (University of Missouri), U.S. Army lieutenant (tank battalion Korea 1968), newspaper journalist (Pulitzer Prize nominee 1974), parenthood (for which no official prizes exist), hippie (Montana), freelance writer (Seattle), janitor at horse racetrack (bizarre), longtime building manager (at quasi-bohemian complex), born 1945 in New York City and reared in Connecticut. Currently retired investor in the Lotto Investment Program.

Photos I've marked as favorites can be viewed on Flickriver on black with more breathing room than Flickr's layout.

With his magic group "Born to be Wild" Michael presents the best selection of animal photos from Flickr. He has an incredible eye; it's a real competition jury. With his magic group "Born to be Wild" Michael presents the best selection of animal photos from Flickr. He has an incredible eye; it's a real competition jury. So he helps us to progress and cheers us up by inviting us to his top group-gallery-selection. He defends the animal cause which is also the cause of man - many no longer know it. What would man be without biodiversity: a robot crossing existence with no other goal than a bunch of green bills. Help, nature needs our daily actions and our amazement at all times. Bruno Conjeaud

======= April 25, 2008 ======= I have spent the last hour or so looking through the excellent photo exhibit *ABW* Gallery (Amazingly Beautiful World) specifically looking for comments from coyrooster (Michael Brush) because I find his comments so interesting and entertaining! So, a very special thanks to you Michael for your enthusiastic response and help along the way. Your uniquely thoughtful comments are an inspiration for me and many other photographers that you've left similar comments for. I think you've quickly become one of the leaders of the Flickr community through sharing such positive feedback to so many people which brightens our days. Just think what the world would be like if we all did this a bit more... and not just within Flickr. Your example is infectious! Thanks Michael! The comment Michael made on this photo of Machu Picchu (www.flickr.com/ph... along with several emails and helpful suggestions) spurred me on to write my first testimonial on Flickr. ======= March 3, 2013 ======= Take a look at the ABW Anniversary thread to see the warm sentiments not only for the ABW Gallery but especially for Michael's involvement there. The story of how I met coyrooster while down in Patagonia and my thoughts on ABW can be read here: www.flickr.com/gr...

As Maecenas to ancient Rome or the Medicis to medieval Florence, so Coyrooster strides through the corridors of Flickr dispensing wisdom, encouragement, and patronage. And just as the Medicis bestowed on a grateful planet the treasures of the Uffizi gallery in Florence, so Coyrooster has conferred on Flickrites the ABW, a pool to which invitations are an honour as esteemed as they are rare. Yet such is his modesty that neither this gallery nor any other houses any photo from the atelier of Coyrooster himself. Such is the curious paradox of our patron, who, without publishing any picture of his own, has done more to raise the standard of photography on Flickr than a whole legion of picture-snappers.

Michael's surpassing intellect and penmanship abounds with imagination and ingenuity. With nouns as colossal as snow capped mountains, verbs as agile as tortuous river rapids, and adjectives as colorful as an evening sky at sunset, Michael's commentaries on photographs are always poignant and picturesque. His words impel me to set down my camera and pickup my pen. Michael, it is an honor and a privilege to have made your acquaintance. I wish you the very best!

Michael's literary and highly descriptive heartfelt impressions on the images that inspire his spirit are what a photographer loves. Ego? Maybe, but transcending words and the usual day to day thought processes are what many artists strive for when visualising an image. I'm sure most thinking photographers and artists are doing the exact same thing but it takes an astuteness and an open mind to appreciate it. These things, Mr Rooster has in abundance.

The only flickr member I know who doesn't post his photos. Instead, your comments are your portfolio, since you replace pixels and silver nitrate with literary excellence. A comment from you Coyrooster, is the strongest motivational booster I have received yet. Browzing through your favourites and reading your comments, it is obvious that you have mastered not only the art of seeing, but also the art of describing so well what you see. Oh how I wish I could see your photos... Thank you for being who you are! I can only hope to get to know you better.

Though Michael does not have any pictures on flickr (yet?) he is the most valuable person here. His commenting is amazing, real poetry and inspiration. I am wandering the ABW gallery just to read his comments on the marvels he finds. I'm proud to get his comments on some of my photos. Thank you Michael.
