I'm a high school social studies teacher. Ok, yes that sounds boring, but I really love history. I find historical places extremely interesting and love exploring. Washington, DC (and the surrounding environs) is one of my favorite places to visit. I truly love teaching.
I'm not just one sided here. I'm multi-dimensional. I am married with two daughters. My family is one of the most important parts of my life. My husband is terrific and my kids are fabulous. I'm not bragging; they are. My extended family are also the best. When I look at the family lines and where they stretch, it boggles the mind. It's nice having a large extended family that surrounds you.
Camping is a favorite family activity. We love to hitch up the RV and head out. Apologies to you hard core campers out there, but I do need my creature comforts. I love the out of doors, but need to keep it there at times.
Our family is very active at our church, Bridges Christian Fellowship. It's a great place to connect with other Christians and form some wonderful relationships. Our pastor is really a blessing and teaches deeply from the Bible. You really feel like you matter there. This church has played a fundamental role in drawing me into a personal relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm not a religious fanatic. I'm just in love with the Lord. It really changes your perspective.
I'm an artist who dabbles in a lot of media. Watercolor is a favorite, like my Grandma Swanson. I do a lot of detail work in pencil and pen/ink. I find that I can express myself and release a lot of tension by just drawing. Of course, throwing some clay around and making pots, etc. releases tension and hey, it is useful, too.
I love to be around people and chat. I love to listen to stories because I love to write. Guess that one comes from Uncle Carl. I've written short stories, poetry and even a play or two. Nothing fantastic, but someday....
Oh, and I love to laugh... a lot!
