Born in Newcastle upon Tyne and moved to Edinburgh in 1969, living here ever since...

I have had a wide range of employment, working across the UK over many years. I retired from full-time work in 2005.

My interest in photography started in 1956 when my parents gave me a Bakelite Kodak Brownie for Christmas, progressing to my present Canon EOS 20D that is now looking a little old in the tooth but I can't bring myself to spend on a newer SLR. I also have a Canon IXUS 90 iS, a beautiful and robust little camera that slips into the pocket but has 10Mps resolution.

My past caravanning, mountaineering, youth hostelling and hillwalking activities has led me to climb most of Europe’s highest peaks, providing many photo opportunities on the way.

I'm quite adept with Adobe Photoshop but have a dreadful aversion to over-edited and over-enriched photos.
