As an artist rooted in the arid landscapes of the eastern portion of the Pacific Northwest, my journey over the past 30 years has been one of deep exploration and expression through the medium of light. Unlike traditional artists who wield brushes and pigments, I work with the captured photons of light to paint my visions onto the canvas of my imagination.
I hail from a family steeped in artistic tradition—my great grandfather's melodies echoed from his piano, my grandmother's songs filled the air, and my mother's canvas captured vivid realities. This lineage is further enriched by relatives who were clock makers, woodcarvers, and carpenters, each crafting their art with hands skilled in shaping their materials into something transcendent.
My creative spirit is kindled by the subtle allure of the imperfect. I find inspiration in the timeworn grace of rusty metal, the stoic permanence of natural stone, or the unexpected charm of found objects. My art reflects this fascination, blending captured images with layers of textural elements like rust, which lend an ethereal, almost dreamlike quality to the final composition.
In my studio, these visions are brought to life through the precise application of archival pigment inks on hot press heavy cotton fiber paper. Each piece is carefully mounted on a custom-crafted wooden panel and finished with a hand-applied layer of clear acrylic medium, adding a tactile brushstroke texture.
My work has been described as poetic and imbued with a visual language that speaks to the soul. Admirers like K. Ranger have noted, "Very few would see the potential of a shot like this in the first place and the fact that you do singles you out as far more than an ordinary photographer." Rose Lotus adds, "Your images are poetic, with a visual language that rings true."
It is my hope that my art inspires others to seek and appreciate the often unseen and overlooked beauty that surrounds us every day. My creations adorn the walls of over eight hundred fine residential and corporate spaces across the United States and in seven countries, each a testament to a life devoted to the pursuit of artistic truth.
I continue this journey from my home studio in Kennewick, Washington, where each new piece is a discovery, and every discovered object is a potential narrative waiting to be told.

These color pieces are indeed PAINTINGS. LuAnn's sense of intense color balance, and formal composition is SO STRONG, not too mention her perfect touch with distressed details and 'noise.' I love this sort of Diebenkorn-like contrast of big with tight, wide with small, line with square, and that sense of edge, or border...along with the sheer heat of the colors! (which in lesser hands can so easily be overdone.) LuAnn's eye for a sophisticated, uncluttered framing, which also empowers her fine photography, coupled with that deeply satisfying palette, is producing consistently marvelous visual art. In that sense then, these 'digital works' earn that higher more elusive application of the term 'Paintings.' They deserve to be seen at size on walls.

There are quite a few digital abstract/textural photographers out there, but Luann's work is special. It has a point of reference to it (Textiles, Tibetan rug designs, natural fungi, etc.) that allows the viewer to find their own personal imaginative context within it --- thus her work is even stronger as an abstract. Plus she is a wizard at capture of light and use of color!
