Six String Concerts was founded in 1988 by a group of friends who loved acoustic music and wanted to see singer/songwriters perform in Central Ohio. Frustrated by the lack of national acoustic acts playing in the area at the time, they decided to produce concerts themselves. For more than 30 years Six String Concerts--an all-volunteer run nonprofit--has continued to bring top national and regional acoustic musicians to the Columbus area for a series of 8-10 concerts held between September and May. The concerts are held in intimate, alcohol-free environments that allow the performers and audiences an unhindered "listening room" musical experience.
