At the age of 8 I have started taking first pictures with a Kodak instamatic Camera, then with my parent´s Agfa Silette and at the age of 14 I could buy a Pentax Spotmatic M42 - wonderful peace of mechanic!
After switching to a Canon EF, Ftb and F1 few years later I stayed with manual focus and preferably self developed B&W film and used Kodachrome for vacation pictures. The Canon 1.8/85 mm was my most loved lens. Then for many many years a Leica M - preferably with the wonderful 1.4/35mm - was the main tool to document my family and vacations.
I needed not less than 30 years to make the turn to digital and auto focus with an Olympus E-1 and later MfT, lately also Fuji XF100 and GFX50R. Fuji I love for their B&W Emulation out of the camera.
Underwater photography became a newer topic during the last years - a rewarding double challenge because you need very good diving as photographing skills. Herewith I am still very at the beginning.
For underwater I used the Olympus tough in a housing and now bought a housing for my Olympus M1 but Corona hindered me from using it until now.
Still undecided whether to stick with Olympus 4/3 for its light weight an perfect usability for longer lenses, macro or whenever you want a larger area of sharpness. Or should I switch completely to Fuji for its wonderful film emulations? Or go back to my old love Leica? You can forget about taking pictures if you contemplate too much over gear ;-)
Content of my pictures was besides typical traveling pictures my family, sports, snapshots, portrait, macro and lately I have discovered underwater photography as a real challenge. Macro and landscape are also very interesting. But I do not like to work too much on it with postprocessing, image stacking and so on. However, todays best landscape and macro photos are mostly done with extensive usage of these techniques and our eyes got used to that appearance.
To protect people I have photographed, I do not make public many pictures. I am in doubt about the legal situation with those typical street photography and traveling pictures where we always have people in the scenery or even close up, whom we could not ask formally for copyright. So I am careful about that.
I only needed more time to work on my pictures, sort them, upload them and discuss ... may be in a few years ;-)
