I am a amateur photographer who has recently set down my digital camera and picked up film. I'm not trying to make any statements with my switch, and I didn't do it for quality reasons. I am not a good enough photographer to make equipment the limiting factor in my images! I am switching to film because of the process and stillness of thought it helps me achieve when shooting. When I was shooting digital, my process was what I would call "chasing" an image. The result was always hundreds, if not thousands, of images with 5 exposures bracketed to run through HDR software. Too often I settled when it came to location, subject, or composition because I always had in the back of my mind "I’ll fix it later".
With film, there is no fixing it later. I find that when I am forced, I CAN pre visualize and think through the photo before I even get the camera out of my bag. I also enjoy buying and selling vintage 35mm cameras. I buy from thrift stores and garage sales and then sell on eBay after I've played with for a while. My favorite so far has been the Olympus 35RC. I don't make any money, but it also doesn't cost me any money.
I hope you enjoy the photos I've uploaded. I have kept my digital files here as well because I strongly believe that the medium, analog or digital, has no effect on the validity of the art form.
