I'm a mom, wife and an elementary school assistant principal. I have 2 boys and 2 step-daughters and a miniature dachshund (she rules the roost).

Photography is something I've been interested in since I got my first camera when I was 8 years old. Anyone remember the Kodak Instamatic? Regardless, I've been trying to find a better hobby than passing out in front of the TV. I will say that photography is addicting! I think I am driving my family crazy (but it is a short drive)...

Some random things about me:

1 - I adore my children and they have made me a better person (really, I'm nicer now). I can truly say that I have enjoyed every single stage of their lives. They are such great people and I really like who they are.

2 - I don't like feet. I have no idea why. Maybe I was an insect in a former life and got stepped upon. And I can't stand for people to put their feet on the dashboard. Ugh! Gross!

3 - I used to be an Art History major. Now I couldn't tell you the difference from a Picasso or a Monet (well, I probably could - but I can't tell you when or where they painted their stuff). Funny how life turns out. I think I was voted most likely to NOT become a teacher... never mind becoming a principal. I wasn't a very good student so you've gotta see the poetic justice in that. You should have seen the looks I got at my last high school reunion...

4 - I want to become a detective when I grow up. Around the same time I quit getting freaked out by blood. And dead bodies. Seriously, I love a good mystery.

5 - I am hearing impaired. I choose to wear hearing aids. And I can read lips. But when I have heard enough, I can tune you out and pretend it is all because I can't hear. How perfect is that? And please don't point out that I can't hear (one of my biggest pet peeves) because I can be rather rude. ;)

6 - I have a lot of good friends but my husband is my best friend (cheesy, eh?). And I am great friends with my ex-husband and my husband's ex-wife. Let's just say that the Pollyanna in me can get along with just about anyone. We often have gatherings at our house and include our exes. This also makes it very difficult for our children to try and play sides.

7 - I am fascinated by children. The best part of my job is dealing with the kids (it is the angry adults I could do without). Children are hilarious and often brutally honest. They make me laugh everyday.

8 - I love to read. Usually, there are two or three books that I am reading simultaneously - one in the car, one by the bed, and one in the den. I have a lot of favorites and I love to reread a great book.

9 - I was a tomboy when I was growing up. My mother would beg for me to wear dresses and skirts. When I was 10 years old, I broke my knee and was in a huge cast for 4 months. In that time frame, I learned to appreciate what skirts and dresses had to offer (and I didn't have to slice up ALL my favorite jeans to fit over my cast). Since then, I've learned to like some girly clothes - but I am still a rough and tumble girl at heart.

10 - My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. I love the idea of coming together with friends and family just to enjoy each other's company. My least favorite holiday is Christmas. I despise the commercialization and the pressure it puts on everyone. We'd rather focus on spending time together with the people we love best.

Beth is a profoundly artistic and wise person, and an amazingly-skilled photographer. She freely shares her insights on life in general, and specific details of her intriguing and fascinating life in Georgia. :) She has a delicate and beautiful style in her photography, and her images are always intriguing and engaging -- although often, her "tags" are as good as the photos they accompany! I am blessed by Beth's presence in my life, and honored to have her as a flickr friend and colleague!
