Clever Endeavor
Drag to set position!
My love for beads as a young girl has turned into a passion to create jewelry. I love to work with pearls, gemstones, glass seed breads and recently precious metal clay. I have created a shop that houses my creations called the www.cleverendeavor.etsy.com I named my website the Clever Endeavor because I am always trying to learn new jewelry techniques and improving upon my current skill set.
Recently I was introduced to the material Precious Metal Clay. Precious Metal Clay is composed of fine silver particles (recycled from old film negatives), organic binders, and water. The clay is then molded into its desired generic shape, and dried. After completely drying, the clay can then be filed, sculpted, and sanded, after which it is fired with a kiln. Firing the piece in the kiln burns the organic binder off and fuses the silver particles together leaving a piece composed of 99.9% fine silver. The higher silver content within the piece makes the piece less prone to tarnish.
Most of my silver pieces are made from molds inspired by vintage Art Nouveau and Victorian buttons and pins. Most of my pieces are solid fine silver pendants. I have a regular 9 to 5 job but at night I enjoy trolling the internet for new inspirations from vintage pins and buttons, creating new molds and working with my tools to creating my precious metal clay pieces.
