I'm old -- older than I'd like to think. But being old has one big advantage. And that is I've had time to do LOTS of things.
My mother had a degree in design and was very much into crafts. Fortunately, she spent a lot of time teaching me lots of great things. I vividly remember a great fish that I finger painted when I was four years old. And I still have the ceramic cat I made in kindergarten.
In the 1960s my wife (who had a degree in art from UCLA) and I got very involved in both ceramics and glass blowing. We had a great time making and selling lots of stuff.
Some of that interest has rubbed off onto two of our sons. One son, Jon Price, is a full-time potter in his own ceramic studio. He only uses crystalline glazes and has a great time with it.
To learn more about Jon's ceramics, you can visit his website: www.JonPriceCeramics.com. And he usually has items for sale on: www.CrystallineGlaze.etsy.com.
All three of Jon's kids are into ceramics also. And they make some really interesting stuff.
Our youngest son, Jeff Price, is a glass blower. I helped him build all of his own equipment a few years ago, and sometimes assist him. (I also still blow a little myself, but the older I get, the heavier that glass seems to get!).
You can learn more about Jeff's glass on his website

So we have four generations of potters and two generations of glass blowers in our family.
Well, we may have a third-generation glass blower. One of our grandkids, Megan Bentley, is very much into it. She blew glass in Jeff's studio for awhile and really got hooked on it. She is attending college in Oregon right now, but hopes to get back to it after she gets her degree. For the time being she is working with "warm glass." That is, fusing and slumping. She has a real knack for that.
