Unembedded and unprotected Iraqi filmmakers, journalists and fixers tell firsthand their stories and those of their country to European audiences in Offline: Baghdad (Not Just Another Film Festival). These are not stories from the Green Zone – the center of the heavily protected international community– they are the stories of life in today’s Iraq told directly by Iraqis themselves- they are the missing words and images on Iraq today.
The concept behind Offline: Baghdad (Not Just Another Film Festival) emerged from the compelling need for Iraqi filmmakers, journalists, translators and fixers to communicate to outside audiences through their firsthand accounts the reality of the physical and emotional fragmentation of their homeland, Iraq.
Offline: Baghdad is organised by 7 volunteers: Alessandro d'Ansembourg Director of Outreach and publicity, Karim Fael, Executive Director, Sheryl A. Mendez, Director of Programming, James Pope, Tabitha Ross, Manuela Scebba and Thomas Sommer-Houdeville.
The photos here are photos made by friends, photographers and filmakers during our presence in different festival.
thanks to Marianne, Ziad, Hadi, Alessandro, Karim, Sheryl and all the people who will help to update this flickr's windows on Offline...
