I am an art historian concentrating on modern architecture and urbanism, and am particularly interested in the intersection of the imaginary and the constructed in spaces of cities. I am a professor of art history at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA, and also live for part of the year in Berlin.

As one sees from the images, my current work focuses on Milan. I am researching the themes of the new and urban space in Milan from 1945 on through the 1960s. The images here are initial visual-spatial studies that give an idea of what I'm interested in. I hope to intensify these in the summer of 2014 with a return trip to Milan and would appreciate any contacts there. I am especially interested in the role of Rationalist architecture in the reconstruction of Milan onto its development as a center of modern design.
