My name is Mike and I live in a small town in New England. For 15 years now, I've used Flickr to share my passion for jigsaw puzzles with the public. It's been a joy, through this platform, to have met hundreds of other puzzle fans who have contributed images, information, inspiration, and occasionally assistance in acquiring those rare gems that we here appreciate.

I've been doing puzzles my whole life and collecting since 1996, when I discovered large, European fine art puzzles. In the past decade my collection has become much more extensive, branching out into five main areas:

- European, fine art puzzles (from the '70s - '00s);

- vintage American puzzles (Milton Bradley, Springbok, Eaton, Battle Road Press, Tuco, Jaymar, etc.);

- Japanese puzzles (vintage and contemporary);

- independent, small press contemporary puzzles (Pomegranate, Grafika, Bluebird, Blue Kazoo, King of Puzzle, Stella, Enjoy, Puzzle Manufacture);

- wooden, hand-cut puzzles in the French style (Véra, Eddie, Michèle Wilson, Elyane Magniant, Genest Le Colimaçon).

Over the years I have established a handful of puzzle groups on Flickr around various themes, most notably The BIG Jigsaw Puzzle Collection and Milton Bradley Jigsaw Puzzles and I've also organized my 1500+ puzzle photos into various categories using the Albums feature.

I'm not a "speed puzzler" per se but I do enjoy discovering which puzzles are more difficult or less difficult, and have been timing myself for nearly a decade, with a write-up about my methodology and an illustrated Album that lists my timed puzzles ranked in order of difficulty.

I am also active in researching the history of puzzles, especially cardboard puzzles over the past 50 years which have not been as well documented as those prior. For the past few years I've been an active member of the UK-based club The BCD which focuses on the documentation, restoration, research and enjoyment of jigsaw puzzles, wooden and cardboard, meeting occasionally on Zoom for presentations and discussions.

I have chosen to participate in social media pretty much only on Flickr, and do not have accounts or use Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, TikTok, Youtube etc. (...well, I do watch videos on Youtube, probably more than I would care to admit). As such, I am out of the loop on puzzle-related discussions taking place on other platforms, which I regret, but not enough to join those platforms. With its Web 1.0 simplicity, consistency, journalistic format, refreshing lack of pop-up ads and non-intrusive administration, Flickr has been the ideal venue for me to quietly document my puzzle journey and I hope to continue sharing photos and commentary here for many years to come.
