I initially joined Flickr to keep up with the beautiful images my talented family members were posting. When I would go along when they were shooting I realized I was becoming a "backseat photographer", ("Oh look, take a picture of that!"). It occurred to me that maybe I should get my own camera and try it myself.

I was an illustrator for 30 years and up until now I only took photos as reference for paintings. I didn't really have to worry about composition or light. Now I am having so much fun learning this new way to make images.

I am constantly amazed and inspired by the work I see on this site. I am so grateful for the generosity and encouragement of the people I have encountered here. What a wonderful opportunity to learn and just enjoy great photographs!
