I don't shoot captive birds in any way or, birds in a zoo/aviary/bird park/etc.

For birds I use my Canon EOS 1Ds Mk III with a Canon 500mm lens. I also use a tripod for all my bird shots. I often use a hide for the more nervous subjects.

All my shots are post-processed in Photoshop for exposure, white balance etc. I do not enhance any specific portions of my shots. I fire from a remote (cable release) whenever feasible.
