Is there anything better than to be longing for something, when you know it is within reach?

"Is there anything better than to be longing for something, when you know it is within reach?" ~ Greta Garbo

A couple years ago, I dug up some old family photos in hopes of reconnecting with some of my childhood memories. What I discovered were crappy images of my past. Some were blurry, others didn't even have a subject and many, MANY were either over or under exposed beyond recognition. Disheartened by my discovery, I resolved to learn all I could about photography so I'd be more equipped to capture better memories because I know one day I'd want to look back on the events in my life.

I'm self taught and there's still SO MUCH for me to learn, especially how to process photos... and I'm slowly learning, and I have Flickr to thank.

Pictures are subjective and can evoke different thoughts for different people. My images need not be "perfect," as long as it speaks to me. What about you? What does yours say to you?... or to others? I have immense appreciation for this craft and am here to learn as much as I can about it... to have some fun along the way ... and to hopefully change the look of my family album... one picture at a time! :)

Feel free to browse my stream and leave any comments.

What's in my bag:

Nikon D700

Nikon D300

SB-900 Speedlight

Wireless remote

Nikkor 16mm fisheye

Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8

Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8

Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8

Nikkor 50mm f/1.4

Nikkor 105mm 2.8

Sigma 30mm f/1.4

There's no greater joy than for me to capture moments in natural lighting, but I do still own a speedlight just for fun. These days, I process 95% in LR, with the occasional 5% in PS4.

I am honoured when people mark me as a contact, but I hope you understand that, like everyone, I find I have limited time to keep up with contacts on a regular basis. So, please do not be offended if I do not mark you as a contact in return (although I will often try).

Sorry, but if you have no buddy icon, no favorites, no photos, no contacts and/or if your stream looks sketchy, I will automatically block you... simple as that!

What can I say about Kathie? Her photography is poetic, her shots are very artistic and truly passionate. I'd be lucky if I got half the emotion she's able to convey, into my shots. Truly a great great photographer!

Kathie has been one of the greatest mentors for me on flickr. I love looking at the beautiful world she creates with her images. She never fails to impress all of us with her colors and crazy perspectives. Thank you so much for your support and friendship, lady! It wouldn’t be the same without you! :-)

One day I came across Kathie’s photostream and since then I return to it regularly. Her view of life and photography is an inspirational source. The tones of her photos, the soft bokeh and the commentaries always put a smile on my face.
