Thanks for taking the time to check out my profile.
At the moment, I am a professional high school math teacher who dabbles in amateur photography. I wish it were the other way around (professional photographer, who...).
My schtick: I love capturing the moments - kids having fun, focused athletes, proud parents, and so forth. As a high school teacher, sports coach, and parent of two active boys, I get plenty of chances to capture both moments of triumph and moments of dejection.
My Photo History: I learned most of what I know about photography from my grandpa, who spent countless hours in his darkroom working on his craft. He gave me my first camera (Pentax Spotomatic) when I was about 10 years old. He taught me elements of design and always had positive things to say about my photos. For that, I owe him greatly.
My Photo Future: After spending many years using a Pentax point-and-shoot, I took the plunge and upgraded to Nikon D50. It's been two years, and 50,000 images later since that time. I have upgraded twice to D200, and now D300. Lens envy has hit hard, but I have settled into my big three - 70-300VR, 18-135, and 85 f1.8 prime. These, coupled with the D300 should serve me well - until I find another lens I just MUST have.
Please browse through my photos and feel free to comment. I plan to start adding some of my better captures (presently it includes some football and band picture shots) and would like very much to develop my community of photographer friends.
If I may, I'd like to thank St. Paul Paul for being so kind and encouraging, and for getting me started on this Flickr journey. I consider him a new-found friend and look forward to a shooting with him some day.
