Most of my photos are of non-human living things of various kinds.
I've owned 35mm film SLRs for longer than I care to remember, but only fairly recently have I begun to experiment with digital photography.
Until recently, my most-used camera was a Canon Powershot A720IS, which has 8 megapixels, 6x optical zoom and a very handy manual mode. I sometimes use a Canon 250D supplementary lens if the subject won't let me get very close.
I now have a Canon EOS550D, and am quite pleased with it.
Call me a traditionalist, but to my way of thinking the 'photography' takes place within the camera. If an image needs to be Photoshopped to death before it's fit to be shown to a waiting world, then the Recycle Bin is the best place for it. To that end, the only post-processing which I normally do consists of a bit of cropping and the occasional histogram stretch to help the contrast.
I'm not a fan of groups which use large, gaudy invites to publicise themselves and impose a 'post 1/comment n' rule to force comments to be added to their images. Such compulsory, attention-seeking comments are by their nature meaningless, and any group which perpetuates itself in this way isn't worth joining.
