I have been a Penguin collector for over 40 years and a member of the Penguin Collector's Society since 1985. My collection started with a visit to the local Oxfam shop when I saw the two Robert Graves Greek Myths books and Williamson's Tarka. I already had a number of penguins on my shelves and this was the start of my collecting. quest . Initially I concentrated on the main series but this inevitably led on to the other series. The collection grew from a single bookcase to a couple of bookshelves and then ultimately to the whole of the small bedroom being fitted with shelves holding over 4000 volumes. There comes a stage however when you have to decide what to do next. Neither of my daughters wished to take over the collection so the decision was made to start selling them mainly through ebay and this I did. By that time I had also discovered flickr and decided to record my collection and in particular the various cover illustrators. The bulk of the illustrations on this flickr site are from my own collection. Unfortunately some of the books had already been sold before recording them so for the sake of completeness in the various series or in the work of particular authors or illustrators I have also included some scans from the internet but have acknowledged these in the description. This is still a work in progress but thanks for your interest.
