I am a historian and folklorist, educated at Syracuse University (PhD) and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MA). My interests are in landscape photography, cemeteries, Irish and Old-Time American music. I am interested in the characters of local places.

These days I shoot Fujifilm cameras, an X100V and an X-T3. Formerly I shot with aNikon D7100 with 18-55, 55-200, Sigma 70-300, Tokina 12-24, and Nikon 28 and 50 mm prime and a Mamiya 645 1000s, and before that with a Nikon D80 and a LUMIX FZ8.
