What I love about photography is its ability to freeze an instant in time, forever. It's ability to capture a moment that would otherwise be lost, forever. Image for moment, everybody's life experiences, all 7 billion of us (is that the right number these days?) every day going about our business, experiencing things, routine, extraordinary, fantastic, whatever . . . all all of these fascinating moments all unique and priceless . . . what is the value if captured? Not in monetary terms but in terms of recorded /documented history, for present and future generations to understand and appreciate and learn from?

Hi. My name is Vito. I used to be an avid amateur photographer about 20 years ago owning first a Ricoh SLR and then a Nikon FE2. (I sold the analogue FE2 and accessories not too long ago.) Stopped for a long period and starting to progressively get back into it. By progressively, I mean progressively upgraded my digital cameras over the past half dozen years or so to today where I recently purchased a DSLR, a Nikon D60 with the 18-55 and 55-200 VR lenses. I'm beginning to enjoy it once again.

As for style, I don't really have one. At least not yet. I just take pictures of things that that catch my eye and like. The picture style is all over the place but who cares. If it looks good I press the shutter button. If I have any style at all, it is bold colours. I like bold vivid pictures.

The following are some of my shots that have made Explore:

Granby (Quebec) Rose

Old Montreal Restaurant

Vintage 50s Pontiac 2

Weathered Blue Door

Bloor West Village 3

Varadero AP 2008-05-31-2 Time Warp

Varadero 2008-05-29-1 Time Warp

In addition to the above "explored" shots (which I have skepticism over how flickr selects best or "interesting" shots in an algorithm based on popularity of whether there is a cat or dog or "warm and fuzzy" subject, the following are some pictures I am personally proud of having had the opportunity to snap:

Cuba - The past today 2

1949 Ford Prefect

Camaro Z28

Quebec 1
