I am an artist. I paint mostly in watercolor, but also work in oil , acrylic and all drawing media. I travel around teaching watercolor and drawing workshops, and am a signature member of the National Watercolor Society. I have written two self-help books published by Northlight Books, titled, "Painting With Your Artist's Brain", and Drawing With Your Artist's Brain". Both are available from my web site (signed copies).

I am not a great photographer, but take photos mostly as an adjunct to my sketchbook; a way to collect material which might be useful in paintings. I prefer to work from my drawing as much as possible, using the photos as a secondary reference for detail that might add a sense of authenticity to the painting.

I paint and draw because I must. It is a passion with me. I also love to share, and I do this by teaching workshops.

Flickr is a good way to share also.

My Web site (www.carlpurcell.com) has books and prints available for sale. If you see something you would like contact me to see if it is available. If not, I may have something of a similar nature.

Mostly I am a student, and with any luck I will still be learning when I lay the brush down for the last time. If I stop learning before that time I sure hope God doesn't let me wallow in my ignorance for too long.

I am not adding new contacts at this time because I don't have time for more than responding to comments and uploading new images from time to time.
