36 years with a 20 year hiatus in the middle, started out dyeing Goodwill t's with Rit for concert tickets, utility bills etc. Dyed once in the middle for my daughters' onesies, waited until a co-worker's baby was born and dyed onesies for them and found several shops in Austin were very interested in 'old school' design. And I've been at it seriously for the last three years. I've discovered silk and that besides John Carter, most of my heroes these days are women - including Glennis, Anne Maile, Jannice Gunner,Ruth Isslet, Holly Brockman, Kate Broughton, Ann Johnson, Jill Kennedy, Jane Varrall, Julie Parker, Jill Clay, Jane Dunnewold, Paula Burch ... just the ones I can recall quickly. I make beach cover ups, scarves, quilt fabric, silk yardage and (reluctantly) t's.
