I believe in making one of a kind art design jewelry. I work from myth folklore and historic events to make jewelry with a that spark connections to our collective subconscious dreams as a people. All of the art pieces have a multitude of symbolism in their construction.
Had several People Ask me What style of Jewelry I would call my work over the Years . I have always Been a fan of Dada Art collages , In fact Being Dyslexic it is how I see and Remember stories and People . Not the words but the many Images associated with them .
The Idea behind the Design of many of the Rings is college or dada style art , Bringing to life stories or myth by using Cultural Relative Symbols and Colored Stone cut into certain shapes. These Ideas then Crafted into a ring that creates and Image in the Mind Much like a Dada art Collages Or a bards tale , One Bards line spoken or one symbol is nearly as useful as one word with out a sentence to back it up. By creating A series of symbols and Ideas you Create art that Spark emotions and Ideas that are more than the Ring's individual parts .
I think it is good to become craft person , A person with an expressive form of art . it is a way to share your soul with the world and helps to share your internalize Ideas or express the thoughts you feel . Sort of give it a real manifestation in the mind and the physical world around us .With Your craft to be able capture emotion and symbolism that have a greater meaning than the base elements they came from .
In our cycle of life we, we all have some inner light a perspective outlook on life that can be expressed in art that is unique to us. Our birth Like every individual raindrop falling on a pond will create an ever growing circle , A persons expressive forms of art will create circles of influence that reach outside of our individual self To all others that see or hear it . We effect every other living circle we come in contact with, though our individual drop of water is only a small part of the the waters of Humanity , our existence can resonates across the whole of it .As Artist we need to Keep making artistic expression part of so many lives . And we Keep up making waves.
Born July 23, Marvin Lee Billings . I am the fourth of five children three girls two boys. All of my family enjoys some form of art from painting, jewelry, wood working, to art quilting. I was told my first watercolor was done when I was three. My first memories are of working with clay. My art teacher in high school Peggy Pendergrass, a great impressionist and beautiful lady, was the most Influential person to me and greatly improved my drawing and painting skills from 1979 to 1983. After joining the army I was assigned to Fort Ord California. It was hear that I learned how to fabricate and cast jewelry from Rex and lapidary craft from my second mother Reba. I later worked part time teaching silver smith and jewelry fabrication at Fort Ord CA . I now have my own jewelry and lapidary workshop where I design and bring my ideas to life. I still paint and draw. And thank my wife who understands that I can focus on my work and not notice the house burning down around me, and lets me stay lost in my own little world. Sheryl also reads most of my writing as being moderately dyslexic myself I usually cannot find mistakes I have made, and they are many.

A great quote from Joseph Campbell
"No one in the world was ever you before, with your particular gifts and abilities and possibilities. It's a shame to waste those by doing what someone else has done. "

He uses amazing stones in totally different ways and well know metals looking completely different to what anyone is used to, plus natural earthy materials such as shells and bone.
