I’m thoroughly imperfect – just like the world – but I try to identify and acknowledge the beauty in both. I think the camera is a wonderful tool for doing that. When traveling, I see it as a fantastic extension of the eye. I’ve taken a few photography classes over the years, but I still consider myself to be very much an amateur. That said, more and more, I see photos even when I don’t have my camera – my mind framing and editing the images, looking for the light, the pattern, the intersection of shapes, the shading, the contrast, the colors, the dimension. I enjoy photography as a hobby, as a method of self-expression, and as a recorder (and sometimes distorter) of moments and memories.
