Hello!
Most of the images I upload here are either for my blog or are artwork or illustrations (usually created for my shop - The Light Garden)
After the birth of my son, 20 months ago, I was inspired to start drawing gentle and peaceful scenes showing the simple wonder of childhood. Not long after, I moved from Australia across the globe to live where her husband spent his own childhood - Istanbul.
In the huge city of Istanbul I find inspiration. Each day I look out over the rooftops in Europe, across the water to Asia. In the distance are Rumeli Fortress and the Bosphorus Bridge, and as I work I can hear the sounds of fruit sellers in the street below and the call to prayer five times a day. This is a place that fuels the imagination!
The buzz of the city also leads me to seek calm and stillness through my creations.
Combine all this with a serious love of art and nature, inspiration from children (especially my son!) and an addiction to coffee and all things handmade and you have some major creative drive!
The result is The Light Garden, a growing collection of artwork and illustrations that are soft, calm and gentle.
I also write a blog about my life here in Istanbul and adventures with my little boy Yashar. I especially love creating for my Making Mondays posts, which are often about projects I have made with my son.
