Photography is a hobby for me. I have been serious about digital photography since 2006. Initially I saw it as an activity that went well with raising kids – my wife and I have three sons. Since those birds have mostly flown the nest, my subjects have gravitated largely to nature and wildlife. I live in a location with ready access to wildlife of many kinds. Most of my photographs are made within a mile of my home.

I enjoy my time immersed in nature. I am saving my dive into backyard/patio macro photography for the day that the effort involved with wildlife photography becomes too much (don't even own a macro lens at this point).

I believe the George Santanaya quote I have provided below says everything about wildlife photography.

Outside of my wildlife subjects, my photostream is a bit eclectic. The common thread, however, is me. My personal connection with my subjects fuels my inspiration. I am NOT a photography purist, and do enjoy the occasional extreme digital photoshop manipulation.

I welcome all comments and critique regarding my humble and eclectic FLICKR photostream.

Keep inspiring FLICKRINOs!

Best Regards,

Steven

when my time comes, this Wendell Berry poem is religion enough for me - print it on my memorial card:

The Peace of Wild Things

by Wendell Berry

“When despair for the world grows in me

and I wake in the night at the least sound

in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,

I go and lie down where the wood drake

rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.

I come into the peace of wild things

who do not tax their lives with forethought

of grief. I come into the presence of still water.

And I feel above me the day-blind stars

waiting with their light. For a time

I rest in the grace of the world, and am free“

“A frog does not drink up the pond in which it lives.”

~ Native American Proverb
