I took a job as an assistant professor of biology at Chadron State College in northwestern Nebraska. My specialty includes Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths), Odonata (dragonflies and damselflies), Cicadidae (cicadas), Cicindelidae (tiger beetles), and Acrididae (grasshoppers), among many other things. I've got quite a few new grasshopper photos as I have loads of outtakes from the western grasshoppers identification tool (should be online by early February 2008). I've developed quite an appreciation for them in my recent research. What is my favorite insect group? Despite a lot of recent work on grasshoppers, I would still have to place tiger beetles on top. They rock in many ways. I have now been an assistant professor at Chadron State College as an organismal zoologist since August 2008. As of January 2018 I am an associate professor and I am up for promotion to full professor this spring. Yes teaching is mayhem, but I love it. If I were to summarize my job description as I see it, I build new scientists for a living. Two books done so far: The tiger beetles of South Dakota and Nebraska, and The grasshoppers of Nebraska. They are both free books, provided one follows the leads, and we still have some.

As of 2018 I am a full professor. I should have a new tiger beetle book out this fall, which covers much of the upper Midwest.
