I am a newbie to photography. I received a new camera from my husband last Christmas - Nikon D90. At the time I was ill and it sat in a box for several months. In March, we found a baby raccoon near our home. I had been feeding adult raccoons from our back porch in the evenings and fell in love with them. When we found the baby, I didn't have a clue how to take care of it and ended up contacting a local wildlife rehabber. After contacting her, I found she needed help badly. She had 15 baby coons that needed care in addition to several other animals. I started helping her and have cared for a few "overflows" that she had. This experience "made" me pick up my camera. Who could ignore such sweet little faces and amazingly entertaining animal antics!!! I have taken many, many shots of these babies, squirrels and other wildlife that comes to visit at our house. We live in a rural area and I have taken many landscape shots and other nature oriented pictures. After recovering from an illness where I was not able to get up and get around for a while, I discovered how precious and wonderful life is. How there is beauty in every day things that most people take for granted every day. These animals and my camera have been a Godsend to me and both have made a difference in my life.
I appreciate any comments or helpful advice that anyone gives. I am not close enough to a school to attend any classes so at this time I'm pretty much "experimenting" with my camera. I have difficulty understanding some of the information in the manual and I know my camera can do so much more. I'm working on it. I love HDR effect and am wanting to do bracketing and work with Photomatix.
